From ages 0-99, anyone can take a trip back in time with all the perks of modern-day amenities: A real castle with over 350 acres of pristine landscape, including one of Ireland’s largest bodies of water, The Lodge at Ashford Castle is something out of a storybook.

The 64 beautiful suites come with private balconies overlooking the lake or courtyard. There is not a bad view in the entire place. Families are welcome, and accommodations for up to a family of 8, with connecting rooms, are available. There is casual dining in the pub, and you can have a full Irish breakfast or a 5-star dinner in the main restaurant on the upper level.  There are even babysitting services on-site to give the parents a night out.

There are currently 32 different activities for all ages depending on your preference.  The award-winning team at The Lodge at Ashford Castle works hard to make sure everyone has a unique experience. Your wish is their command – just like royalty. A week is not long enough to experience all the amazing activities Ashford has to offer!

We enjoyed the horseback riding during our stay.  Your ride through the countryside takes you back in time. We ventured past the castle and all the sites of the grounds.  Not ready to saddle up?  They offer carriage rides as well.  We rode by the Falconry School, where you can go on a hike and observe the falcons in action. The golf course is a must experience for the golfing enthusiast and is included in your stay!

Kids and adults alike will love the zip-lining and tree climbing in some of the largest trees you have ever seen. On the lake, you can go cruising on a boat ride, try your luck at fishing, take a kayak out, or go paddleboarding.

Quiet evening inside?  Plenty of choices for all.  There is an indoor gym, a pool, and a full-service spa. Or you can pick up a DVD player with a few movies.

Whatever your desires are, Ashford has an answer.  Make sure you stop here on your next trip to Ireland.  Endless experiences, amazingly attentive staff, and a cozy stay in a land from long ago.
