Emerald City Theatre & Theatre School

OUR EXPERIENCE WHILE ON SET

The Emerald City Theatre was packed!  We were so fortunate to sit next to Sara Ochoa-Youngblood, one of the leading bloggers in the Chicagoland area.  Sara filled us in on her experience with her little guy at the theatre and also shared many other great tips and advice for more attractions for families in Chicago.  You can check out Sara’s blog via Macaroni Kid athttp://chicagoloop.macaronikid.com/.

OUR ADDITIONAL TIP

What I liked most about Emerald City Theatre is the fun begins from when you walk into the door until the second you leave. Our additional tip to you is to come early, so you can participate in their pre-show activity. Before each show, there is an activity or craft in the lobby related to the show. Usually, you’ll create props, like a mask for example, that will then be used during the play!

NEED MORE IDEAS???

We did a lot of research for the show! Though we couldn’t visit every destination, we did want to show you what else we found.

If you enjoy playing hockey, basketball or riding bumper cars, you’ll love playing whirlyball. This sport combines these three sports in a highly competitive game of patience and teamwork. Each game is played with 10 people, 5 on each team, with the object of the game to score the most points in a given amount of time.  There are two types of points you can earn. Each shot is worth 2 points, unless you score from midcourt, where then it’s worth 3 points. They do take walk ins and reservations, but FYI kids must be at least 12 years old and 4’6 or taller.
