Local Chop & Grill House, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, serves some of the most quality locally sourced fruits, vegetables, and meats in the Shenandoah Valley. This cozy steakhouse is a favorite among locals and visitors who are looking to treat themselves to a fresh steak or a unique cocktail.

Colleen was able to sit down with the restaurant’s head chef Jacob Napotnik to talk about what makes this a great destination for those visiting the Shenandoah Valley. One of her favorite things about the dishes are how personalized they are to your taste. With so many preparation options including meat rubs, sauces, and side dishes, there’s no doubt that you will leave with a happy pallet!

The restaurant is located inside of a 55,000 square foot
building that dates back to 1911 when it was the City Produce Exchange. Originally built to accommodate shipping entry along the Southern and Chesapeake-Western Railway, the interior and exterior are a spectacle in themselves. The Local Chop & Grill House now occupies a small portion of this building to pay respect to the history of the community and to provide locally sourced food for its diners.

Some additional tips & fun facts:

  • If the menu overwhelms you, ask the waiter or waitress what they recommend. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and they can make your food selection easier.
  • Specialty sodas are available for children who want to indulge – yum!
