Autry National Center

OUR EXPERIENCE WHILE ON SET

The two boys who joined us for the gold panning experience at the Autry were troopers!  It was a pretty warm day and both boys didn’t even let it phase them at all.  We explored some of the indoor exhibits with them as well and they had a good time locking each other up in the western style jail.  They even took turns riding into the sunset on a pretend horse, with green screen and all!  I am sure Gene Autry would approve!

OUR ADDITIONAL TIP

Yeeeehaw! Family and friends who love music, poetry and cowboys will enjoy the Western Music Association Monthly Jam. On the third Sunday of each month from 12pm -3pm, the Autry includes with Museum Admission, the opportunity to experience the Wild West in a unique way. If your family is into music, you will hopefully enjoy this experience hosted by the California Chapter of Western Music Association.

NEED MORE IDEAS???

We did a lot of research for the show! Though we couldn’t visit every destination, we did want to show you what else we found.

Step into the house of William S. Hart, famous film actor and director who produced Western movies in the early 1900’s. Browse, explore and experience his beautiful mansion, which is now a museum, filled with exhibits and artwork. See pieces from Charles M. Russell, Frederic Remington and Joe de Young. Also, experience an historic Ranch House, which contains a live collection of animals, picnic areas, hiking trails and a gift store.
