Travel Town Museum

OUR EXPERIENCE WHILE ON SET

The little guy who was with us at Travel Town was SOOOO excited to be there.  There was no doubt that he was completely in love with trains.  He could tell us everything about them from the parts of the train, to the types of train cars…a serious train aficionado!

OUR ADDITIONAL TIP

Travel Town is open daily except for Christmas Day.  It is FREE for visitors as it is run by dedicated volunteers, though the main day to day operations are provided by the city of Los Angeles.  Proceeds from the gift shop go toward supporting the work of the Foundation to build and maintain the programs, exhibits, and restoration projects at the Museum.  Docent tours are held the 2nd Saturdays of the month from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.

NEED MORE IDEAS???

We did a lot of research for the show! Though we couldn’t visit every destination, we did want to show you what else we found.

Also located in Griffith Park, Shane’s Inspiration is an accessible playground for children of all abilities.  Some of the highlights of the park include an airplane, where kids can pilot and feel like they are taking off into the wild blue yonder! There is also a spaceship, accessible slides and a ship of dreams donated by the Ronald McDonald House.  Shane’s Inspiration opened on September 21, 2000 in memory of Shane Williams who died of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.  For more information about playdates at the park, you can contact the organization www.shanesinspiration.org .
