Do you ever worry about your personal security when staying in a hotel room? Many of us, particularly women who travel alone, might wonder if the lock on the door would be enough to keep an intruder out. But now there’s a product on the market that can give travelers a little peace of mind. It’s called the DoorJammer. It’s a portable security device that makes it difficult, if not impossible, for someone to break into your room.
Many of us on the “Family Travel with Colleen Kelly” team decided to test it out to see if it lives up to its claims of making travelers feel safer. We used the DoorJammer on our office doors. Anyone who tried to push the doors open could not do it, no matter how much strength they used.
According to the DoorJammer instruction manual: “Thanks to our ingenious system of hinges and angles, the horizontal force being exerted on the door from the outside is converted into a vertical force maintaining the DoorJammer firmly onto the ground.” The technology definitely works. And it only took us a few seconds to put the DoorJammer in place. We also like that the product is portable and comes in a small black drawstring bag.
We think travelers would be happy with the added security that the DoorJammer provides. It could be especially helpful for anyone who is new to traveling alone or traveling with family.
