It’s important to take every family member’s interests into account when you plan your summer vacation. It can be easy to incorporate fun for the kids, whether it’s beaches, pools with slides, museums or great arcades. But dads can be a little more challenging. Unless he’s a golfer. So many popular vacation destinations have amazing golf courses, and day of golf can be a fun addition to your travel plans. So if dad or any other family member loves to golf, be sure to find a special course in the area you’re visiting. We’ve done a little legwork for you. Here are some favorite courses that will leave you with lasting memories of a great day on the fairway.



Although its location is in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the Whistling Straits golf course will make you feel as though you took a trip to Ireland, with its beautiful greenery and lakefront view. The “Irish” course was ranked #39 in the Golfer’s Digest list of 100 Greatest Golf Courses for 2013/2014. The course is noted to provide a challenging environment with a peaceful feel. After finishing a round of golf, be sure to head to the Whistling Straits Restaurant, located in the clubhouse, to reward yourself with a delicious meal. The restaurant has received the “Wine Spectator Award of Excellence” every year since 2001. If you have dreamed of vacationing in Ireland, then head to Whistling Straits and you won’t have to hop over the pond.


East Potomac Park is just a few short minutes from downtown Washington, D.C. East Potomac offers three different courses and remains affordable with greens fees starting at just $10.00. Perhaps one of the most unique features offered at East Potomac is that you can aim your tee shot at the Washington Monument, as well as experience some of Washington’s greatest landmarks while perfecting your golf game. Many people spend their summer vacations in and around our nation’s capitol. If you’re one of them, be sure to visit East Potomac.


Looking for that awesome Southern California golfing destination but still want to stay within a budget? The beautiful, top 10-ranked, newly renovated Welk Resort is located in San Diego.
